Mini Chef - Coffee Shop Kitchen

About the role

CampusKey is looking for a skilled and motivated chef to lead kitchen operations at its coffee shop in Stellenbosch. You will prepare high-quality food, keep the kitchen clean and safe, and help create a consistent, enjoyable experience for customers. The role suits someone enthusiastic, customer-oriented, hard-working and able to get hands-on with the day-to-day.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and cook breakfast, brunch and light lunch menu items according to recipes and portion standards
• Keep food fresh, properly stored and prepared in a timely manner
• Maintain a clean, organised kitchen and follow all food safety and hygiene regulations
• Monitor stock levels, help order supplies and minimise food waste
• Work closely with the front-of-house team for smooth service
• Suggest and help develop seasonal or special menu items
• Follow health and safety guidelines at all times
• Train and support kitchen assistants or junior team members, if applicable

Required profile

• Previous experience as a chef or cook in a café, restaurant or similar setting
• Strong understanding of kitchen hygiene and food safety standards (Food Safety Certification preferred)
• Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment
• Creative, reliable and team-oriented attitude
• Passion for food, presentation and customer satisfaction
