Mine Manager

About the role

A well‑established gold mining operation in South Africa’s Witwatersrand Basin is seeking an experienced Mine Manager to lead safe, efficient and productive mining activities.

Key responsibilities

• Take overall accountability for safe and efficient management of the underground gold mine.
• Provide strategic and operational leadership across all mining activities.
• Ensure compliance with South African mining legislation, regulations and company policies.
• Drive a strong safety culture and achieve health‑and‑safety objectives.
• Develop and implement mining plans to meet production targets.
• Manage production, costs, productivity and operational performance.
• Oversee effective utilisation of equipment, resources and manpower.
• Lead and develop the mining management team and workforce.
• Monitor performance, manage budgets and implement corrective actions.
• Collaborate with technical, engineering, geology, processing and other departments.

Required profile

• Relevant tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering or a related discipline.
• Valid Mine Manager’s Certificate of Competency for the operation.
• Extensive experience in underground gold mining, preferably at senior management level.
• Strong knowledge of South African mining legislation, safety requirements and operational standards.
• Proven track record of managing production, costs and people.
• Excellent leadership, communication and decision‑making abilities.
