Millwright (Packaging) – Durban

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Millwright to join a global manufacturer of plastic and aluminium closures. The role focuses on maintaining and repairing packaging production equipment in our Durban facility.

Key responsibilities

• Repair and maintain electrical, electronic, mechanical and production equipment.
• Install control panels and pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical systems.
• Perform scheduled maintenance using CMMS and OEM manuals.
• Troubleshoot control circuit faults and analyse equipment breakdowns.
• Record root‑cause analysis on job cards.
• Execute approved modifications, rebuilds and refurbishments to keep lines running optimally.
• Conduct routine safety checks and ensure compliance with electrical/electronic specifications.
• Deliver quality workmanship to prevent repeat failures and prioritize breakdown work according to business demand.

Required profile

• Matric or N3 equivalent plus a valid Millwright Trade Qualification.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience as a qualified Millwright in an industrial setting.
• Knowledge of injection moulding machines (e.g., Engel, Netstal, Arburg) and compression moulding machines (e.g., SACMI).
• Practical experience with fault finding, industrial electronics, variable speed drives, servo motors, PLC controls, pneumatics and advanced hydraulics.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical and hydraulic schematics.
• Strong mechanical fitting skills.
