Member Accounts Accountant

About the role

The Member Accounts Accountant is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and completeness of customer (member) accounts. This includes overseeing cash and bank allocations, performing periodic reconciliations, implementing financial controls, and leading the member allocations team.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily fund allocation and reconciliation for member accounts and merchant settlement accounts, ensuring zero discrepancies.
• Perform monthly reconciliations of member receipts, rewards, and generate accurate balance reports.
• Address and resolve member balance queries, process refunds, and manage after‑hours support as needed.
• Upload monthly rewards, create banking files, and administer the rewards system with a 99% accuracy rate.
• Design, implement, and continuously improve internal financial controls and reporting processes.
• Provide trend analysis and reporting on member account performance to support strategic decision‑making.

Required profile

• BCom degree with a focus on Accounting.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in an accounting role.
• 2–3 years of team‑lead or supervisory experience (advantageous).
• Hands‑on experience in cash and debtors management and handling customer queries.
• Willingness to provide after‑hours support or standby duty.

Required skills

• Advanced Microsoft Excel.
• Proficiency with accounting software/systems.
• Strong numerical reconciliation abilities.
• Microsoft Office Suite.
