Medical Sales Representative - Johannesburg South

About the role

Abbott's Nutrition Division is hiring a Medical Sales Representative based in Johannesburg, South Africa. The role covers the Johannesburg South area and involves promoting and selling nutrition products through multiple channels by contacting specialists, physicians, dieticians, nurses and pharmacies. A possible country trip may be required depending on business needs.

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain relationships with key customers such as oncologists, pediatricians, dieticians, intensivists, pharmacists, clinic and hospital nurses, and private and state hospital customers.
• Design and implement strategies to achieve sales goals and targets, and drive market share, volume growth and sales targets.
• Meet monthly KPIs for customer call rate, days in the field, coverage and frequency.
• Identify and pursue new business opportunities.
• Attend trade displays and presentations, including after-hours and weekends as needed, and take part in sales meetings, territory business reviews and conferences.
• Arrange monthly scientific meetings with private and state customers and manage monthly expenditure within company guidelines.
• Ensure compliance with the company Code of Conduct at all times.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Dietetics, medicine or health sciences (verified by Abbott).
• Minimum of 3 years of sales experience in the healthcare industry; experience in adult and pediatric ICU, oncology, high-care wards and/or state facilities preferred.
• Strong knowledge of the Johannesburg South area; previous experience with nutritional products is a plus.
• Valid driver's licence.
