Medical Receptionist – West Coast, Western Cape

About the role

The specialist practice on the West Coast of the Western Cape is looking for an experienced Medical Receptionist. You will be the first point of contact for patients and will ensure smooth day‑to‑day administration while delivering exceptional service.

Key responsibilities

• Welcome patients and visitors in a friendly, professional manner.
• Answer and manage telephone calls, emails and patient enquiries.
• Schedule appointments, coordinate the doctor’s diary and send confirmations.
• Liaise with medical aids, hospitals and external billing bureaus for authorisations and coding.
• Process in‑room payments, issue receipts and maintain accurate patient records.
• Monitor practice stock, manage supplies and coordinate with IT providers and pharmaceutical representatives.
• Maintain a clean, efficient reception environment.

Required profile

• Matric / Grade 12 qualification.
• Minimum 5 years experience as a Medical Receptionist in a private practice.
• Experience in a surgical or specialist practice is advantageous.
• Fluent in English and Afrikaans; isiXhosa is a plus.
• Professional appearance, reliability and strong confidentiality.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Comfortable working on Mac/Apple devices.
• Experience with medical practice management software.
