Mechanical Project Engineer – Process Plants

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Project Engineer to lead the delivery of turnkey process plant solutions across mining, mineral processing, hydrometallurgical, chemical, water treatment and other industrial sectors. The role involves managing projects from concept through to commissioning while collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Key responsibilities

• Lead mechanical engineering projects through concept, design, procurement, fabrication, installation, commissioning and hand‑over.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams to ensure successful project execution.
• Prepare and review mechanical designs, technical specifications, datasheets and equipment selections.
• Manage project schedules, budgets, procurement activities and contractor performance.
• Liaise with clients, suppliers, fabricators and site personnel throughout the project lifecycle.
• Oversee fabrication, factory acceptance testing (FAT), site acceptance testing (SAT), installation and commissioning.
• Ensure compliance with engineering standards, quality requirements and safety regulations.
• Identify project risks and implement mitigation strategies.
• Prepare technical reports, progress updates and project documentation.

Required profile

• BEng/BSc in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical project engineering within process plant or heavy‑industrial environments.
• Proven track record delivering projects from design through fabrication, installation and commissioning.
• Strong understanding of process plant equipment and systems.
• Experience in at least one of the following sectors: mining, mineral processing, hydrometallurgy, chemical processing, oil & gas, water treatment or industrial processing.
