Mechanical Plant Operator – Grade 2

About the role

Industaff Solutions is seeking a qualified Mechanical Plant Operator (Grade 2) to join its team in the Western Cape. The role involves operating a range of heavy‑equipment machines on construction and landfill sites and performing basic maintenance to ensure safe and efficient operation.

Key responsibilities

• Operate mechanical plant including Rex landfill compactor, 4‑in‑1 side‑dump loader, tractor‑agric with attachments, loader/traxcavator, open‑bowl scraper and class 2‑4 dozer.
• Carry out basic maintenance and routine checks on all assigned equipment.

Required profile

• South African citizen with a valid ID document.
• Valid driver’s licence (code 14 EB/EC to code B).
• Up to 2 years of relevant on‑the‑job experience and any applicable competency certifications.
• Ability to pass a departmental proficiency test and provide a recent criminal record check.

Required skills

• Proficiency in operating Rex landfill compactor.
• Experience with 4‑in‑1 side‑dump front‑end loader.
• Skill in handling tractor‑agric machinery with various attachments.
• Capability to operate loader/traxcavator and open‑bowl scraper.
• Competence with class 2‑4 dozer equipment.
• Basic mechanical maintenance knowledge.
