Mechanical Fitter – Benoni (Full‑time)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Fitter to ensure safe and reliable operation of production machinery in a manufacturing environment. The role involves planned maintenance, breakdown repairs and technical support for hydraulic, pneumatic, injection moulding and cable processing equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Perform scheduled preventative maintenance and inspect machinery for wear or damage.
• Respond promptly to breakdowns, diagnose mechanical faults and carry out repairs or adjustments.
• Assist production with machine set‑up, tooling changes, adjustments and changeovers to minimise downtime.
• Maintain and fault‑find basic hydraulic and pneumatic systems, inspecting hoses, valves and cylinders.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications and manuals to install, assemble, align or modify equipment.
• Complete accurate maintenance documentation, including work orders, breakdown reports and downtime logs.
• Apply lock‑out/tag‑out procedures and ensure safety guards are reinstated after work.

Required profile

• 3‑5 years of experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
• Recognised Mechanical Fitter Trade Test Certificate.
• Minimum N3 Mechanical Engineering qualification or equivalent technical qualification.
• Proven ability to perform preventative and breakdown maintenance, fault finding and machine changeovers.
• Strong problem‑solving skills, safety awareness and attention to detail.
