Mechanical Engineer (FreeCAD) – Remote Contract

About the role

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer with strong FreeCAD expertise to create production‑ready 3D models and drawings for a variety of manufacturing processes. This remote contract position offers the chance to contribute to AI‑driven documentation and support a fast‑moving engineering team.

Key responsibilities

• Create and modify detailed parametric 3D CAD models of mechanical parts and assemblies using FreeCAD or comparable software.
• Develop comprehensive engineering drawings, including GD&T and tolerance stack‑ups, ready for manufacturing handoff.
• Design components for sheet metal fabrication, CNC machining, plastics, and injection molding.
• Perform CAD validation and quality‑assurance reviews to ensure model accuracy and manufacturability.
• Prepare clear technical documentation and assembly instructions for AI model training.
• Incorporate feedback from technical reviewers to refine CAD models and supporting documents.

Required profile

• Proven experience designing mechanical components for manufacturing environments.
• Expertise in FreeCAD or similar parametric CAD software for advanced modeling, assemblies, and drawing generation.
• Hands‑on exposure to sheet metal, CNC, plastics, and injection‑molding design considerations.
• Strong knowledge of GD&T, tolerance analysis, and Design for Manufacturing (DFM) best practices.
• Demonstrated ability to produce production‑grade CAD models and validate them against real‑world manufacturability criteria.
