Mechanical Designer – FMCG Machinery (Durbanville)

About the role

Are you a skilled Mechanical Designer with a passion for seeing your concepts come to life? A leading engineering firm specializing in high‑speed FMCG machinery is looking for a mid‑level Mechanical Designer to join their technical team.

Key responsibilities

• Full‑Lifecycle Design – own the design process from concept brief to final product, creating detailed 3D models and 2D manufacturing drawings using Autodesk Inventor.
• Data & BOM Management – maintain complex assemblies, revisions, and precise Bills of Materials within Autodesk Vault.
• Innovation & Improvement – assist with prototype testing, resolve manufacturing hurdles, and suggest upgrades to improve machine uptime and efficiency.
• Collaboration – partner with electrical engineers, production teams, and clients to translate complex requirements into buildable, high‑performance designs.
• Compliance – ensure all machinery designs meet strict safety, quality, and industry regulatory standards.

Required profile

• Relevant Mechanical Engineering qualification (diploma or degree).
• 2–5 years of dedicated experience designing industrial or FMCG machinery.
• Collaborative team player with a sharp, analytical problem‑solving mindset.

Required skills

• Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
• Material selection knowledge.
• Understanding of fabrication processes.
