Mechanical Design Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer with solid experience in AutoCAD to develop practical engineering solutions. The role offers exposure to innovative design projects, collaboration with global stakeholders, and involvement in product development within a technically advanced environment.

Key responsibilities

• Evaluate task scope and define design requirements
• Prepare and maintain bills of materials and related 3D assemblies
• Create 3D parts and 2D drawings in line with supplier and regulatory standards
• Manage and maintain accurate product data within PDM/PLM systems
• Liaise with international suppliers and customers on design requirements
• Conduct concept and design reviews to ensure feasibility and compliance
• Support day‑to‑day customer engineering activities
• Develop creative and cost‑effective design solutions
• Collaborate with purchasing and materials teams on part design and sourcing
• Work closely with analysis, test, and manufacturing teams to optimise designs
• Ensure designs meet relevant regulations, standards, and compliance requirements
• Continuously develop skills in CAD and engineering systems

Required profile

• Minimum 3+ years of mechanical design experience
• Strong 3D CAD experience (AutoCAD)
• Exposure to PDM/PLM systems (advantageous)
• Ability to interpret technical requirements and translate them into design solutions
• Strong problem‑solving and analytical abilities
• Good communication and stakeholder engagement skills
• Ability to work independently and within a team
• Willingness to travel internationally (USA)
• South African residency or valid work permit
