Manager Trade Credit

About the role

Old Mutual is looking for a Manager Trade Credit in Johannesburg to collaborate with the Business Development Office and drive profit and premium growth for assigned portfolios. The role covers risk evaluation, pricing and selection/rejection of new business, and leads the delivery of customer service levels while keeping statutory and legislative knowledge current.

Key responsibilities

• Drive profit and premium growth for assigned portfolios by executing business plans and recommending changes to processes, policies, mandates and rating guides.
• Evaluate risk, price and select or reject new business for each account, and analyse underwriting performance and client book trends.
• Quote, price and underwrite new policies mainly for complex or service-sensitive accounts, and monitor risk selection and pricing decisions.
• Analyse complex accounts, identify opportunities for organic growth and lead delivery of customer service levels, including follow-up on escalated requests.
• Complete client visits with the sales team when needed, and communicate product, technology and industry changes to the portfolio team.
• Identify training needs, act as a subject matter expert where possible, and ensure tools, training and support are in place.
• Manage workflows at high volume, streamline processes, and comply with corporate governance, policies and mandates.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent NQF Level 7 qualification in general insurance.
• 5-8 years' experience in trade credit underwriting.
• 2-3 years' experience leading a team of specialist underwriters.
• 3-5 years' experience in trade finance.
• NQF Level 9 - Masters.
