Manager, Product, Card Acquiring

About the role

Standard Bank Group is looking for a Manager, Product, Card Acquiring in Johannesburg. The role defines and champions the vision, strategy and roadmap for the Card acquiring product portfolio, driving client growth, revenue and market share. It owns the end-to-end lifecycle of card acquiring products, from conception through launch to sunset, while meeting evolving market needs and regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Define the product vision, strategy and roadmap for Card acquiring, and turn market analysis, competitive benchmarking and client needs into product specifications and user stories.
• Lead the full product lifecycle, from ideation and development to launch and sunset, and drive design of new features and enhancement of existing ones.
• Collaborate with engineering, operations and IT teams on technical build, integration and deployment, and embed products within the broader Transaction Banking and Coverage team propositions.
• Build relationships with Visa, Mastercard and other payment schemes, and with fintechs, PSPs and payment aggregators, and manage internal IT and operations support.
• Establish risk frameworks and controls, monitor regulatory changes, and own the financial performance of the portfolio, including revenue, costs, profitability and Net Interest Revenue.
• Develop product marketing strategies and launch plans, evaluate post-launch performance, and act as a subject matter expert internally and externally.

Required profile

• First degree in Business Commerce.
• 5-7 years of experience in a banking environment, including card acquiring and issuing experience and good understanding of scheme relationships.
• 1-2 years of Product Management and Transaction Banking experience.
• Ability to manage department and team performance within policies and procedures.

Required skills

• Understanding of IT concepts such as architecture diagrams, APIs and SRE, and ability to work with technology experts.
• Knowledge of client solutions, business strategy and operational planning.
• Technical competencies: SDLC methodologies and tools, risk management, compliance, product development, business continuity and disaster recovery planning.
