Manager: Learning and Training

About the role

The Library and Information Service at Stellenbosch University seeks a dynamic Manager to lead its Learning and Training portfolio. This senior role oversees the design, delivery, and continuous improvement of digital, information, AI, data, and media literacy programmes for students, staff, and library personnel.

Key responsibilities

• Manage all Learning and Training services within the Library and Information Service.
• Develop and coordinate digital and information literacy training for university students and staff.
• Plan, organise, and deliver professional development programmes for library staff.
• Oversee the Learning Commons, ensuring it provides a stimulating environment that supports transformative student experiences.
• Handle human‑resources functions related to the learning team.
• Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Market training programmes and Learning Commons services.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Library and Information Science or a related field with a postgraduate diploma.
• Minimum five years of experience in an academic library information service environment.
• At least two years in a second‑in‑charge or comparable middle‑management role.
• Proven ability to lead successful contact and online training sessions.

Required skills

• Experience developing digital, information, artificial intelligence, data, and media literacy skills.
• Strong organisational and project‑management capabilities.
• Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills.
