Manager (Botanic Gardens)

About the role

eThekwini's Community Services Department, within the Recreation and Parks Directorate's Parks, Leisure and Cemeteries Division, is recruiting a Grade 14 Manager (Botanic Gardens) in Durban. The role covers horticultural management, staff and financial oversight of the Special Services, and several other key areas.

Key responsibilities

• Provide horticultural management
• Manage the staff of the Special Services
• Undertake administration management
• Undertake the financial management of the Special Services
• Manage communication and liaison functions
• Be responsible for horticulture education
• Manage health and safety
• Be responsible for law enforcement

Required profile

• Diploma (NQF Level 6) in Horticulture, Landscape Technology, Turf Management or another related equivalent qualification; a degree (NQF Level 7) is preferred
• Valid motor vehicle driving licence
• 5 years of relevant experience in the green industry, including 2 years at a supervisory level (6 years and 3 years at a supervisory level preferred)
