Management Accountant

About the role

A leading mining company is seeking a dedicated Management Accountant to join its corporate office in Centurion. The role focuses on analysing operational costs across multiple mining sites, providing financial insight, and supporting decision‑making for improved profitability.

Key responsibilities

• Compile, monitor and analyse daily, weekly and monthly operational costs across mining sites.
• Travel regularly to sites to gather accurate cost data and understand cost drivers.
• Prepare and maintain production cost models, unit‑cost analyses and site‑level cost tracking schedules.
• Develop short‑term and long‑term operational forecasts in collaboration with site management.
• Analyse variances between actual costs, budgets and forecasts and investigate underlying causes.
• Produce management reports highlighting performance, cost trends, risks and areas requiring attention.
• Identify cost‑saving opportunities and recommend practical improvements.
• Support capital‑expenditure planning and post‑investment performance reviews.

Required profile

• BCom in Accounting, Management Accounting, Finance or equivalent.
• CIMA qualification or progression towards CIMA is advantageous.
• 3–5 years of experience in management accounting, cost accounting or commercial finance, preferably in mining or heavy industry.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and commercial acumen.
• Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel extensively to mining sites.
