Maintenance Technician

About the role

We are looking for a Maintenance Technician to join a leading meat processing plant in Pinetown. The role offers significant responsibility for keeping production equipment running efficiently while supporting a safety‑first culture.

Key responsibilities

• Perform preventative and breakdown maintenance on meat processing machinery such as band saws, mincers, sausage fillers and blenders.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults quickly to minimise downtime.
• Install, commission and calibrate new equipment, including PLCs and Variable Speed Drives.
• Collaborate with production teams to optimise equipment performance and support plant shutdowns, upgrades and relocations.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and manage spare‑parts inventory.
• Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene and health & safety standards.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years of maintenance experience in the food or meat processing industry.
• Strong mechanical and electrical fault‑finding abilities.
• Relevant electrical or mechanical qualification.
• Experience working with meat processing equipment.
• Knowledge of PLCs and Variable Speed Drives.
