Maintenance Officer – Hospital Facility

About the role

We are looking for a Maintenance Officer to join the Life Nkanyisa Kirkwood Care Centre in Johannesburg. Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, you will ensure the hospital’s facilities and equipment are safe, functional and compliant with all regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Manage internal and external service providers, ensuring contractors meet Life Healthcare standards.
• Implement and follow preventative maintenance programmes for all hospital systems and assets.
• Plan, agree and execute capital expenditure projects with hospital management.
• Carry out basic maintenance tasks such as painting, carpentry, basic plumbing, general cleaning and basic electrical work under supervision.
• Delegate routine tasks to the Maintenance Assistant and supervise specialised activities.
• Ensure compliance with the OHS Act, SANS, municipal bylaws and internal policies.
• Issue, capture and sign daily job cards, monitor service level agreements and process supplier invoices.
• Conduct customer satisfaction surveys, manage complaints and support audit activities.
• Participate in a 24‑hour standby rotation to guarantee essential services are always available.

Required profile

• Grade 12/NSC qualification.
• N6 Electrical certification (or equivalent).
• Ability to perform both supervised and unsupervised maintenance tasks.
• Willingness to work on‑site in a hospital environment and adhere to health‑and‑safety regulations.
