Maintenance Manager (QSR Stores)

About the role

Pedros is hiring a Maintenance Manager for its Wacky's business, a national role based at the Durban head office with travel to stores. The manager establishes dedicated ownership of maintenance as the business grows, driving preventative maintenance, reducing equipment downtime and repair costs, managing service providers and contractors, supporting new store openings and equipment installations, and ensuring all stores and equipment are properly maintained.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and manage a structured preventative maintenance programme across all Wacky's stores and equipment
• Reduce equipment downtime and repair costs through proactive planning, inspection and fault diagnosis
• Diagnose and resolve electrical and mechanical faults on commercial fryers, refrigeration, extraction, HVAC and other QSR equipment
• Manage and coordinate external contractors and service providers, including SLAs, call-outs, quotations and quality of workmanship
• Support new store openings and equipment installations so stores are fully operational and trade-ready
• Prioritise and coordinate breakdown response and maintenance requirements across multiple store locations
• Manage and control the maintenance budget, balancing cost control with equipment reliability and uptime
• Ensure all stores and equipment comply with relevant health, safety and operational standards

Required profile

• Degree or relevant tertiary/technical qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or an equivalent trade qualification (advantageous)
• Experience in a multi-site QSR, restaurant or retail maintenance environment
• Refrigeration and/or HVAC trade certification
• Own vehicle and valid driver's licence

Required skills

• MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) or similar maintenance/asset management software (advantageous)
• Experience implementing or administering a CMMS or similar system (advantageous)
• Hands-on, proactive problem solving, strong organisation under pressure, and good communication with contractors, suppliers and store teams
