Maintenance Manager

About the role

The Maintenance Manager will lead the maintenance function for a packaging manufacturing plant, ensuring equipment reliability, optimal uptime and compliance with safety standards. This role reports to senior plant leadership and works closely with production and quality teams.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and supervise a team of artisans, assistants and contractors to maintain all plant machinery and facilities.
• Develop and execute preventive and predictive maintenance programmes to minimise downtime.
• Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, electrical and technical faults on packaging equipment.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, including job cards, breakdown reports and machine histories.
• Coordinate maintenance activities with production to limit disruption.
• Ensure health, safety and environmental compliance across all maintenance work.
• Manage spare‑parts inventory and procurement of critical tools.
• Conduct root‑cause analysis and implement corrective actions for recurring failures.
• Provide technical guidance, coaching and mentorship to junior staff.

Required profile

• Qualified electrician, fitter or mechanician (Red Seal or equivalent).
• Extensive experience with packaging machinery and industrial equipment.
• Strong mechanical and electrical fault‑finding abilities.
• Proven leadership, communication and organisational skills.
• Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities and be on standby when needed.
