Maintenance Electrician – Drilling & PLC Specialist

About the role

The Maintenance Electrician will be responsible for assembling, installing, testing and maintaining electrical and electronic systems on drilling rigs and related equipment in Gabon. The role emphasizes safety, compliance with electrical codes, and rapid response to emergencies.

Key responsibilities

• Assemble, install, test and maintain wiring, equipment, appliances and fixtures using hand and power tools.
• Diagnose and repair malfunctioning systems, PLCs and CAN‑bus networks.
• Inspect electrical installations for hazards, defects and code compliance.
• Plan layouts and installations based on job specifications and local codes.
• Direct and train workers on installation, maintenance and repair tasks.
• Prepare sketches or follow blueprints to ensure correct placement of wiring and equipment.
• Install ground leads, connect power cables to motors and other equipment.
• Maintain records, prepare reports and order supplies.
• Provide emergency support by operating floodlights, generators and related equipment.
• Complete daily timesheets and ensure a tidy, safe work environment.

Required profile

• Minimum secondary education and a trade certificate in electrical engineering or a certified electrician licence.
• At least 3 years of experience in the drilling/exploration industry working with rigs such as explorac235, shram685, edm1200, Sandvik d710.
• Demonstrated ability to work safely and identify HSE hazards.
• International experience is an advantage.
