Maintenance Artisan (Milwright) – Bakery Equipment

About the role

RCL Foods, a leading South African food manufacturer, is seeking a driven Maintenance Artisan (Milwright) for its baking business unit. The role involves conducting planned and preventative maintenance on bakery machinery and repairing breakdowns to keep production running smoothly.

Key responsibilities

• Perform daily checks on bakery equipment, record faults and submit reports to the Maintenance Manager.
• Carry out planned and preventative maintenance tasks within agreed time‑frames.
• Respond promptly to machine breakdowns, diagnose issues and execute repairs safely.
• Delegate tasks to maintenance assistants and ensure completion.
• Maintain toolboxes, perform tool‑in/tool‑out reconciliation and keep work areas hygienic.
• Participate in monthly stocktakes, order required spares and manage project timelines and budgets.
• Conduct root‑cause analysis on breakdowns and recommend process improvements.

Required profile

• Trade‑tested Artisan Milwright qualification.
• 3–5 years of mechanical/electrical maintenance experience, preferably in a bakery environment.
• Wireman’s License (optional) and a valid driver’s licence.
• Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English.
• Good numeracy and the capacity to work with minimal supervision.
