Logistics Coordinator - Construction Projects

About the role

A fixed-term contract (12-18 months) Logistics Coordinator is sought to manage and coordinate logistics for construction and industrial projects based in Johannesburg. The role covers planning and coordinating the transportation, delivery, receiving, storage and distribution of materials, generators and heavy equipment so that projects run efficiently.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate the transport and delivery of materials, generators and heavy equipment, including transport schedules, delivery timelines and site access.
• Coordinate generators, enclosures, fuel tanks, switchgear and transformers, and arrange special transport and crane-assisted offloading.
• Monitor receiving, storage and use of materials, keep accurate stock registers and watch critical spares and consumables.
• Check deliveries against purchase orders and packing lists, record inspections, complete Goods Received Notes and report shortages or damage.
• Coordinate trucks, cranes, forklifts and transport contractors, and organise storage and laydown areas with good housekeeping.
• Plan deliveries around construction activities, liaise with construction teams, suppliers, procurement teams and project managers, and communicate delays to stakeholders.
• Understand crane operations, rigging and lifting plans, and ensure offloading complies with site safety requirements.
• Maintain delivery notes, packing lists, GRNs, stock registers and dispatch records, and prepare regular reports on material movements and stock levels.
• Ensure logistics activities meet site HSE requirements and resolve delivery delays and material shortages.

Required profile

• Diploma, certificate or relevant qualification in Logistics Management, Supply Chain Management or a related field; Operations Management qualification is advantageous.
• 3-5 years' experience in logistics coordination, preferably in construction, engineering or industrial projects.
• Practical experience in material management, inventory control and site logistics, and coordinating the transport of generators and heavy industrial equipment.
• Proactive, detail-oriented and able to manage several logistics activities while meeting project schedules and health and safety standards.
