Logistics Consultant – Bulk Freight

About the role

Our client is a market‑leading logistics solutions provider operating a fleet of over 120 trucks and a network of 250+ accredited subcontractors. They are seeking a commercially sharp Logistics Consultant to manage high‑tonnage, cost‑sensitive bulk freight across South Africa and SADC routes.

Key responsibilities

• Build and grow a portfolio of bulk commodity clients.
• Plan and manage high‑volume freight movements on national and cross‑border routes.
• Own pricing, Cost Per Kilometre (CPK) and margin control for all bulk contracts.
• Source, negotiate and manage relationships with transporters and subcontractors.
• Track performance against volume, revenue and margin targets.
• Identify new business opportunities and negotiate commercial contracts.

Required profile

• Degree or qualification in Logistics and Supply Chain Management.
• 2–4+ years of experience in bulk road freight logistics, preferably with agricultural or mining commodities.
• Strong analytical and strategic mindset with proven negotiation skills.
• Ability to travel extensively and willingness to relocate to Stellenbosch if required.
• Bilingual in English and Afrikaans.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel.
• Proficiency with logistics management systems.
• Experience building rate models and pricing scenarios.
• Understanding of vehicle running costs and CPK calculations.
