Local Organiser (LDC) – Botshabelo (6-month contract)

About the role

The Local Organiser (LDC) will recruit, organise and provide effective services to NUMSA members in the Botshabelo area. This six-month position involves representing members’ interests in negotiations, legal matters and collective bargaining. The role requires extensive travel across the Mpumalanga region and flexible working hours, including weekends and public holidays.

Key responsibilities

• Recruit and organise members into NUMSA, building a strong union presence.
• Negotiate with employers on wages and working conditions, advocating for members’ rights.
• Prepare statements for cases in collaboration with the regional legal department.

Required profile

• Grade 12/Matric or equivalent qualification.
• Relevant qualifications and experience in union organising or related fields.
• Knowledge of the trade-union movement, bargaining councils and the CCMA.
• Understanding of collective agreements within NUMSA sectors.
• Valid driver’s licence and ownership of a road-worthy vehicle.
• Willingness to travel extensively and work irregular, unfixed hours.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Even-tempered with strong interpersonal abilities.
• Self-motivated team player capable of working with minimal supervision.
• Ability to multitask, organise, plan and manage time and resources effectively.
• Initiative, conflict-resolution and negotiation skills.
• Proven ability to recruit and negotiate effectively.
