Local Organiser – Great North Region

About the role

The Local Organiser for the Great North area will recruit, organise and provide effective services to NUMSA members on all related matters, supporting collective bargaining and member representation.

Key responsibilities

• Recruit and organise members into NUMSA.
• Negotiate with employers on wages and working conditions.
• Prepare statements for cases in conjunction with the regional legal department.
• Attend and report to Local Shopsteward Council meetings and local campaigns.
• Represent members at enquiries, Bargaining Councils and the CCMA.
• Assist with the running of education programmes for shopstewards and members.
• Execute instructions from the Regional Secretary, including building SAFTU and expanding local membership capacity.

Required profile

• Grade 12 / Matric or equivalent qualification.
• Relevant qualifications and experience in the field.
• Knowledge of the trade‑union movement, bargaining councils and the CCMA.
• Valid driver’s licence and ownership of a roadworthy vehicle.
• Willingness to travel extensively and work irregular hours, including weekends and public holidays.
