Litigation Secretary – Debt Review Specialist

About the role

We are seeking a Litigation Secretary to join a large law firm in Lynwood, Pretoria, specialising in debt review matters. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive litigation support and manage debt‑review administration, ensuring smooth case progression and compliance with court rules.

Key responsibilities

• Draft and prepare 17.1 and 17.2 documents, summonses, notices, affidavits and other litigation paperwork.
• Open and maintain client files, liaise with clients, attorneys and debt counsellors.
• File documents with the appropriate courts and track service of legal documents.
• Assist with default judgment applications and prepare trial or motion court files.
• Process debt‑review applications, monitor payment arrangements and update case management systems.
• Prepare documents for Magistrates' Court proceedings and monitor court orders.
• Handle rescissions, withdrawals and enforcement proceedings while ensuring compliance with relevant rules.

Required profile

• Previous experience in debt review and in a law‑firm environment.
• Full knowledge of the debt review process and Magistrates' Court Rules.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously.
