Litigation Associate – Legal Professional

About the role

A well‑established legal services provider in Cape Town is looking for a motivated Litigation Associate to deliver practical legal advice, dispute resolution and client‑focused service.

Key responsibilities

• Take comprehensive instructions from policy holders via consultation, phone or written communication and provide immediate basic legal advice.
• Draft warning letters, settlement agreements, referrals and other correspondence for policy holders and third parties.
• Provide regular progress reports to policy holders at least twice a month and maintain detailed notes on all files.
• Interpret and apply legal principles to facts, delivering written or telephonic legal opinions.
• Conduct legal research to stay current with relevant laws and ensure compliance with company policies.
• Assess merits of cases to determine eligibility for litigation cover and advise accordingly.

Required profile

• LLB degree; admission as attorney or advocate is advantageous.
• Minimum 2 years post‑articles civil litigation experience.
• Ability to speak, write and understand two official South African languages, including Afrikaans.
• Strong drafting abilities, high‑level legal knowledge and excellent communication skills.
• Honesty, integrity, computer literacy and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
