Level 1 Architect – High‑Performance Multi‑System Platforms

About the role

We are looking for a Level 1 Architect to lead the design of high‑performance, multi‑system platforms. You will translate business needs into scalable, resilient solutions while guiding multiple engineering teams.

Key responsibilities

• Design end‑to‑end architectures for complex, distributed initiatives and produce decision records, integration diagrams, and delivery strategies.
• Analyse business and system requirements, identify gaps, risks and dependencies across teams.
• Evaluate architectural trade‑offs in cost, scalability, compliance and sustainability.
• Provide consulting by reviewing designs, APIs, code and documentation to ensure standards compliance.
• Lead inception planning, clarifying responsibilities and integration boundaries for multiple teams.
• Research and prototype emerging technologies, validating feasibility and driving responsible innovation.
• Troubleshoot production incidents, contribute to root‑cause analysis and improve long‑term resilience.
• Mentor engineers, elevate architectural thinking and improve design quality.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Software Engineering or a related discipline.
• 8–10 years of progressive experience in software architecture or engineering.
• Minimum 3 years of solution‑architecture experience for complex distributed systems in regulated environments.
• Proven ability to lead cross‑functional teams and communicate architectural decisions clearly.

What we offer

• Salary range R110,000 – R205,000 per month plus benefits, depending on experience.
