Legal Counsel (Regulatory and Compliance)

About the role

Takealot.com is seeking a Legal Counsel specialized in regulatory and compliance to support senior legal professionals and the wider organisation. The role involves legal research, drafting compliance documents, monitoring regulatory changes and providing clear advice to ensure the business operates within South African and relevant international laws.

Key responsibilities

• Research and interpret a wide range of laws, including product compliance, consumer protection, competition and trade regulations.
• Support the implementation, monitoring and continuous improvement of the company’s regulatory and compliance programme.
• Draft and update template documents, commercial contracts and policy materials with a focus on regulatory compliance.
• Provide regulatory advice, assist with dispute resolution, litigation and keep senior management informed of legal developments.
• Develop and deliver training and communication programmes to raise compliance awareness across the organisation.
