Legal & Compliance Recruiter (Fintech/Payments/Cryptocurrency)

About the role

Black Pen Recruitment is looking for a recruiter to manage legal and compliance hiring. You will work with clients to understand their requirements, identify and approach suitable professionals, and guide candidates through the recruitment process.

Key responsibilities

• Manage recruitment assignments from the initial client briefing through to offer acceptance.
• Source and approach candidates through LinkedIn, referrals, professional networks and other channels.
• Assess candidates’ qualifications, experience, motivation and suitability for each role.
• Build relationships with legal and compliance professionals and maintain an active candidate pipeline.
• Prepare candidate profiles and shortlists for clients.
• Coordinate interviews, gather feedback and keep candidates informed throughout the process.
• Use AI tools to support research, sourcing and recruitment workflows while ensuring accuracy and data responsibility.
• Maintain accurate records of searches, conversations and recruitment activity.

Required profile

• A law degree or a qualification in compliance.
• Experience in recruitment or executive search, ideally across legal, compliance, risk or financial services roles.
• Working knowledge of AI tools and how to use them effectively in research, sourcing and day‑to‑day recruitment.
• Confidence in directly approaching candidates who are not actively looking for a new role.
• Ability to understand specialist briefs and assess candidates beyond keywords on a CV.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, sound judgement and discretion.
• A structured approach to managing several assignments and stakeholder relationships at once.
• Experience recruiting for fintech, payments, banking or other regulated businesses would be an advantage.
