Legal Advisor – Property Management

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Legal Advisor to join the legal and corporate services department of a property management client in Cape Town. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive legal support, ensuring compliance and protecting the company’s interests across all corporate matters.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review, vet, and negotiate a wide range of agreements, leases, and other legal documents relevant to the business.
• Manage dispute resolution processes, including initiating and defending legal proceedings, and coordinating external counsel.
• Handle corporate legal matters such as insurance policies, trademark registrations, and other regulatory requirements.
• Conduct legal research and deliver practical, operational advice on issues affecting the company.

Required profile

• Admitted attorney with a LLB degree.
• Minimum of 5 years of corporate legal experience, specifically within the property management sector.
• Proven ability to work independently and manage external service providers.

Required skills

• Legal drafting and interpretation.
• Dispute resolution in High Court, Magistrates Court, and arbitration settings.
• Legal research and analysis.
• Knowledge of key legislation affecting property management.
