Lecturer – School of Accountancy

About the role

The School of Accountancy at Stellenbosch University seeks a dedicated lecturer to contribute to teaching, research and community engagement across a range of accounting subjects.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, develop curricula and create digital learning materials.
• Supervise postgraduate students and contribute to research supervision in accounting‑related fields.
• Conduct and publish research in reputable peer‑reviewed journals.
• Participate in community and social impact initiatives, including SAICA's Thuthuka project when required.
• Engage in academic administration and internal/external service activities.

Required profile

• SAICA‑accredited honours degree in accounting or a postgraduate diploma in the Chartered Accountancy stream.
• Registration as a Chartered Accountant (South Africa) or eligibility to register.
• Evidence of academic excellence – full transcript, master’s/PhD or publications in DHET‑approved journals.
• Ability to teach in a large multilingual environment and commitment to student success.
• Digital literacy and willingness to integrate technology into teaching.
• Commitment to research, social impact and departmental administration.
• Team‑player with effective collaboration skills.

Required skills

• Knowledge of SAICA’s CA of the Future Competency Framework.
• Prior teaching experience at university level.
• Experience with technology‑enabled teaching and learning.
