Lecturer – Human Rights Law (Full‑time)

About the role

The University of Pretoria Faculty of Law is looking for a full‑time Lecturer to join its Centre for Human Rights. The role involves teaching undergraduate and postgraduate modules in human rights law, developing a research programme, and contributing to the centre’s academic and community activities.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver undergraduate and postgraduate courses in human rights law.
• Develop and lead a research agenda in a relevant area of expertise.
• Publish research articles in accredited national or international journals.
• Present research at national and international conferences.
• Supervise master’s students and guide their theses.
• Perform departmental duties, including administrative tasks.
• Engage with the community on research‑related topics.
• Represent the Centre on faculty and other committees as required.

Required profile

• At least a master’s degree with a specialisation in Human Rights or a related field.
• At least one peer‑reviewed publication demonstrating research potential.
• Registration for, or progress towards, a doctoral degree is strongly preferred.
• Relevant teaching experience or professional experience in the legal field.
