Lead Engineering Development

About the role

The Lead, Engineering Development is responsible for driving technical growth across First Quantum's Engineering, Maintenance and Support Services. The role designs, implements and continuously improves development programmes, including the Senior Proficiency Framework, to align with the company’s Asset Management Framework and national training standards.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and roll out a structured Senior Proficiency Framework for engineering and maintenance staff across global sites.
• Define competency‑based career pathways that support the Asset Management Framework commitments.
• Integrate the framework with reliability, asset management and operational excellence programmes.
• Track key performance indicators and report on skills development outcomes.
• Partner with HR to maintain job grades, compensation structures and performance incentives.
• Align artisan development initiatives with the senior framework and support creation of practical training modules.
• Identify skill gaps with site leadership and implement targeted development plans.
• Manage succession planning in collaboration with group resources.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in technical education systems, competency‑based frameworks and industry training standards.
• Strong knowledge of asset management principles and their integration with reliability and operational excellence.
• Proven ability to design and implement large‑scale development programmes.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills, especially with HR and site leadership.
