Lead Control & Instrumentation Engineer – Platinum Mining Project (Fixed‑Term)

About the role

The Lead Control & Instrumentation Engineer will drive the integration of control, instrumentation, automation and process control systems for a world‑class platinum concentrator plant. Based in Bryanston, Johannesburg, the role involves regular travel to the project site in Zimbabwe and on‑site presence during commissioning phases.

Key responsibilities

• Lead development and review of C&I engineering deliverables, including control philosophies, functional design specifications, P&IDs and instrumentation layouts.
• Provide technical leadership for PLC, SCADA and DCS system architecture and ensure compliance with project specifications and standards.
• Prepare and review technical specifications, evaluate vendor bids, support equipment selection and participate in FATs and SATs.
• Offer technical support during construction, resolve site engineering queries, lead pre‑commissioning and commissioning activities, and assist with operational readiness and hand‑over.
• Champion safety by participating in HAZOPs, risk assessments, MOC processes and ensuring statutory and company compliance.

Required profile

• Degree or Diploma in Electrical, Electronic, Control or Instrumentation Engineering; ECSA registration advantageous.
• 10–12 years of C&I engineering experience in mining, mineral processing or heavy‑industrial projects, with strong EPCM delivery background.
• Hands‑on experience with PLC, SCADA and DCS platforms, and exposure to greenfield and brownfield projects.
• Valid passport and ability to travel internationally for extended site periods.
