LC Controller

About the role

The LC Controller manages, administers and monitors all Letter of Credit transactions, ensuring compliance with international trade regulations, banking requirements and internal policies. The role coordinates closely with suppliers, customers, banks and internal departments to keep trade finance operations running smoothly.

Key responsibilities

• Review and verify incoming and outgoing Letters of Credit for accuracy, completeness and compliance with UCP 600, ISBP and other trade finance rules.
• Prepare and submit LC applications to banks in line with contractual and business requirements.
• Monitor the lifecycle of each LC, ensuring timely amendments, document presentations and settlements.
• Liaise with finance, procurement, logistics and sales teams to align LC requirements with business operations.
• Resolve discrepancies in LC documentation with banks and counterparties.
• Maintain accurate records of LC transactions for audit and reporting.
• Generate periodic reports on LC exposure, utilization and outstanding obligations.
• Ensure compliance with anti-money laundering (AML) and trade sanctions regulations.
• Support treasury and finance teams with cash flow forecasting related to LC transactions.
• Assist in improving processes and systems for trade finance.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or a related field is preferable.
• Minimum 3-5 years' experience in trade finance, banking or corporate treasury with exposure to Letters of Credit.
• Strong knowledge of UCP 600, ISBP, Incoterms and international trade practices.
• Strong analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills, with high attention to detail and excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency in SAP or other ERP systems and trade finance modules is preferred.
• UCP 600, ISBP and Incoterms.
