About the role
The Key Account Specialist is the primary point of contact for customers in the Western Cape, responsible for distributing fuels and lubricants, building strong professional relationships, achieving sales targets, and delivering high‑quality service. The role also involves collecting receivables, providing market feedback, and supporting the overall profitability of the business.
Key responsibilities
- Achieve sales budgets for fuels and lubricants and contribute to the budgeting process.
- Develop and maintain customer relationships within the mining channel.
- Manage pricing, rebates, discounts and ensure all associated costing is captured.
- Collect under‑recoveries such as transport, product returns and maintenance costs.
- Control gross margin after variable expenses (GMVE) per customer.
- Handle customer credit, resolve errors and perform reconciliations.
- Conduct variance analysis and business reviews, compare to budget and take corrective actions.
- Maintain proper stock management and accurate sales forecasting.
- Monitor Fuel Management System suppliers and other cost‑related suppliers.
- Prepare monthly business reviews, KPI reports and asset management updates.
- Administer contracts to ensure rights and obligations are honoured.
Required profile
- Proven experience in key account management, preferably within fuels, lubricants or related industries.
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to balance marketing benefits and profitability.
- Experience in budgeting, variance analysis and financial reporting.
- Ability to manage customer credit, pricing structures and rebate programs.
- Excellent relationship‑building and negotiation skills.
