Junior Production Manager – Indigo

About the role

We are looking for a passionate Junior Production Manager to join our farming team. This position is ideal for someone with hands‑on experience in fruit cultivation who wants to grow their leadership skills while ensuring high‑quality crop production.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate daily farming activities such as planting, fertigation, chemical application, pruning, pest and disease management, and harvesting.
• Monitor production methods, conduct soil and leaf analyses, and inspect crop maturity against targets.
• Assist in implementing strategic and operational farm plans and develop section‑specific goals.
• Schedule and support senior team leaders and production crews, oversee induction, attendance, performance, and health‑safety compliance.
• Maintain accurate production records and manage asset inspections and equipment maintenance.
• Ensure compliance with Global GAP, SIZA and internal quality standards.

Required profile

• Grade 12 / Senior Certificate (essential); Diploma or Degree in Agriculture, Horticulture or related field (preferred).
• 2‑4 years of commercial farm management experience, preferably with fruit or berry crops.
• Practical experience across the full crop production cycle from land preparation to harvest.

Required skills

• Sound knowledge of horticultural and fruit production practices.
• Understanding of Good Agricultural Practices (GAP).
• Basic financial management and budgeting.
• Knowledge of labour legislation and workplace regulations.
• Computer literacy for record‑keeping and analysis.
• Soil and leaf analysis techniques and fertigation management.
