Junior Maintenance Technician – Manufacturing

About the role

Our client, a fast‑paced manufacturing company in Germiston, is seeking a motivated Junior Maintenance Technician. This permanent, onsite position is ideal for a newly qualified millwright or a candidate with limited post‑trade experience who wants to develop technical skills in a dynamic plant environment.

Key responsibilities

• Respond promptly to electrical and mechanical breakdowns to minimise production downtime.
• Carry out preventative maintenance, equipment inspections and routine servicing.
• Assist with the installation and commissioning of new machinery and equipment.
• Execute maintenance tasks assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor, including line changes.
• Maintain high housekeeping, safety and environmental standards.
• Participate in shift, overtime and standby duties as required.
• Support additional maintenance projects allocated by management.

Required profile

• Minimum qualification in Electrical, Millwright or Mechatronics.
• Millwright Trade Test completed; little or no post‑qualification experience.
• Own reliable transport and residence within 30 km of Driehoek, Germiston.
• Willingness to work shifts, overtime and standby duties.
• Basic computer literacy and ability to work under pressure in a manufacturing setting.

Required skills

• Hydraulic and pneumatic systems knowledge.
• Working knowledge of PLC and HMI systems.
• Coding experience (advantageous).
• Microsoft Office proficiency.
• Familiarity with fault‑finding software and diagnostic tools.
• Exposure to maintenance reporting tools (advantageous).
