About the role

The Junior IT Technician will join the Technology team at Village n Life, supporting the IT backbone across hotels, apartments, spas, restaurants and offices in the Cape Town area. You will provide first‑line support, perform system checks and help keep the technology environment stable so that guests and staff have the tools they need.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide first‑tier IT support across all properties, handling tickets, calls and walk‑ins.
  • Maintain daily checklists, basic server checks and report to the Head of Technology.
  • Assist with computer deployments, software installations and user setups.
  • Troubleshoot devices and networks on‑site or via remote tools.
  • Support MS365, mobile devices, email platforms and basic Active Directory tasks.
  • Manage asset registers, password resets, vendor coordination and DSTV account activations.
  • Conduct backup checks, Mimecast monitoring and basic POS support.
  • Assist with CCTV, access control, automation, IP phone operations and basic networking checks.
  • Support audio‑visual equipment, smart TVs, video‑conferencing and streaming setups.
  • Monitor inverter, generator and solar systems at a basic level.
  • Ensure compliance with technology standards, security protocols and service expectations.

Required profile

  • Grade 12 or equivalent with a Microsoft certification or similar qualification.
  • 1–3 years of experience in an IT support role.
  • Strong understanding of Windows and macOS environments.
  • Knowledge of networking fundamentals, security tools and cloud platforms.
  • Organised, reliable and able to communicate clearly with non‑technical users.
  • Calm, practical troubleshooting approach in a busy hospitality setting.
  • Valid driver’s licence and reliable transport.
  • Hospitality experience beneficial but not required.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365 remote support tools is essential.
  • Knowledge of property management and POS systems is an advantage.
