About the role
The Junior Bookkeeper will support the finance team by handling day‑to‑day bookkeeping tasks up to trial‑balance level. This role ensures accurate cashbook management, statutory compliance, and timely financial reporting for the organisation.
Key responsibilities
- Manage cashbooks, invoice processing, payment processing, banking administration and bank reconciliations.
- Update cashbook payment schedules and related financial spreadsheets.
- Renew and maintain company vehicle licences and record traffic fines.
- Provide relief support for the Cashbook Clerk as needed.
- Monitor bank balances, cash‑flow requirements and investment transfers.
- Reconcile credit cards, debit cards and petty‑cash accounts with complete documentation.
- Prepare accounting journals, including Bankfin and foreign‑currency journals.
- Process foreign supplier payments and reconcile foreign receipts.
- Prepare and distribute sales reports to stakeholders.
- Resolve supplier queries and maintain positive relationships.
- Prepare monthly accrual journals and maintain supporting files.
- Analyse municipal accounts, vehicle/forklift fuel usage and other operational costs.
- Assist with quarterly stock counts and maintain stock‑take documentation.
- Maintain cashbook VAT audit files and audit files for travel, entertainment and maintenance expenses.
- Ensure organised filing systems, internal controls and retention of records for at least seven years.
- Process invoicing and credit notes for Branch 29 and manage import/export documentation.
- Perform ad‑hoc finance, accounting and administrative duties as required.

- High levels of integrity, confidentiality and professionalism.
- Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities.
Required skills
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel.
- Bookkeeping knowledge up to trial‑balance level.
- Experience with accounts payable and accounts receivable.
- Working knowledge of VAT compliance.
