Junior Associate – Labour Law Litigation

About the role

Mutsengi Attorneys Inc. is seeking a motivated Junior Associate to join its Johannesburg team, focusing on labour and employment law litigation. The role offers autonomy to manage cases from initial instruction through to resolution, with minimal supervision.

Key responsibilities

• Independently manage a diverse caseload of labour and employment matters from inception to finality.
• Draft pleadings, notices, legal opinions, contracts, and internal policies.
• Represent clients at the CCMA, bargaining councils, and Labour Court.
• Provide strategic advice on substantive and procedural labour issues.
• Conduct legal research and ensure compliance with the LRA, BCEA, EEA, and related statutes.

Required profile

• LLB degree and admission as an Attorney of the High Court of South Africa.
• Minimum 3 years post‑admission experience specialising in labour law litigation.
• Extensive experience handling matters at the CCMA and various bargaining councils.
• Proven ability to run files independently with minimal supervision.
• Exceptional drafting, communication and negotiation abilities.
• Strong organisational skills and capacity to meet tight court and tribunal deadlines.
