About the role

BDO South Africa is seeking a Junior Accountant to join its Business Services and Advisory Department in Port Elizabeth. The role will support a portfolio of individual, trust and close corporation clients, delivering compilation, review and accounting officer engagements.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of clients (individuals, trusts, close corporations).
  • Perform compilation engagements under ISRS 4410.
  • Conduct independent review engagements under ISRE 2400.
  • Handle accounting officer engagements under the Close Corporations Act.
  • Plan engagements and ensure BDO SOPs are followed.
  • Propose journal entries and communicate results to clients.
  • Prepare, process and maintain accounting records.
  • Reconcile balance sheets and prepare monthly management accounts.
  • Prepare audit files and finalise accounts.

Required profile

  • BCom in Financial Accounting.
  • Working knowledge of commonly used accounting packages for reporting and ad‑hoc processing.
  • Detailed knowledge of Caseware working papers.
