Junior Accountant – Durban North (R12,000 per month)

About the role

Our client, an established accounting firm in Durban North, is looking for a motivated Junior Accountant to join their team. This position is ideal for a recent SAICA article completer eager to apply their training in a dynamic firm environment.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare annual financial statements for a portfolio of clients.
• Perform monthly bookkeeping and produce management accounts.
• Prepare and submit VAT, PAYE and income tax returns.
• Assist with audits and independent reviews as required.
• Liaise directly with clients on day‑to‑day accounting queries.
• Carry out reconciliations and maintain the general ledger.
• Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.

Required profile

• B.Com Accounting degree or equivalent qualification.
• Completed SAICA articles (SAIPA candidates may be considered based on experience).
• 2–3 years post‑articles experience, preferably within an accounting practice.
• Own transport and a valid driver’s licence (advantageous).

Required skills

• Strong working knowledge of accounting software such as Pastel, Xero and Caseware.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Solid understanding of IFRS for SMEs and South African tax legislation.
