Junior Accountant – Cape Town Marriott Hotel

About the role

The Junior Accountant will support the finance team of the Cape Town Marriott Hotel Crystal Towers by ensuring accurate recording and processing of financial transactions. This entry‑level position offers exposure to hotel accounting operations and the opportunity to develop core accounting competencies.

Key responsibilities

• Verify the accuracy of figures, postings, and supporting documents.
• Organise, secure and maintain files, records, cash and cash equivalents in line with policies.
• Record, store and analyse financial information using journals, ledgers and computer systems.
• Prepare, maintain and distribute financial, accounting and payroll reports.
• Execute period‑end closing procedures and generate required reports.
• Prepare, review, reconcile and issue invoices and account statements.
• Follow up on overdue accounts and vendor invoices until resolved.
• Prepare daily consolidated cash deposits and manage cash variance documentation.
• Administer cashier banks and related contracts.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; further accounting education preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work with numerical data.
• Good organisational skills and ability to maintain confidential information.
• Professional communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Physical ability to lift objects up to 10 lb without assistance.
