IT Support Intern

About the role

We are looking for a tech‑savvy student to join our IT team as an IT Support Intern in Plattekloof. You will work alongside experienced professionals in a fast‑paced telecommunications environment, providing hands‑on support to business users and gaining practical experience across a range of IT services.

Key responsibilities

• Provide computer and printer support to business users.
• Maintain antivirus software on all machines and perform system backups.
• Assist with network maintenance and configure network devices.
• Set up laptops, equipment and deploy software installations.
• Log and resolve support tickets, prioritising based on urgency and impact.
• Handle technical support emails and calls, and follow up on outstanding tasks.
• Support inventory management and equipment deployment for the Service Desk.

Required profile

• Minimum Grade 12 qualification.
• Currently studying towards an IT‑related diploma or degree.
• Strong integrity, accountability and a collaborative mindset.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proactive problem‑solving attitude and keen attention to detail.

Required skills

• Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Antivirus software management.
• Backup tools and procedures.
• Network device configuration.
• Laptop and hardware setup.
• Printer troubleshooting.
• Ticketing system usage (QContact).
• Technical certifications such as A+, N+, AZ‑900 or AZ‑104 are advantageous.
