IR & Community Liaison Officer

About the role

The IR & Community Liaison Officer will support the Senior Manager Project Stakeholder Management & Projects Manager in building and maintaining positive relationships with local community stakeholders across the Garib Municipality area. This role ensures that project activities are aligned with community expectations and that benefits are delivered to the local population.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the primary point of contact between the employer, contractors, and community members.
• Provide regular updates on project details, safety measures, and schedules to the community.
• Assist with the recruitment of local labour and identify local enterprises for subcontracting.
• Maintain accurate records of potential community employees and share them with the contractor.
• Facilitate communication on wages, employment conditions, and any relocation needs.
• Support the identification of training needs and coordinate technical training in line with stakeholder agreements.

Required profile

• Grade 12 qualification with strong reading and writing skills in English.
• Proficiency in Afrikaans and the prevalent local language.
• Minimum three years experience in community liaison or similar roles.
• Demonstrated ability to build and sustain community relationships.
• Reliability, accountability, and residence within the community area.
• Basic understanding of construction processes.
