Investigator – Claims Investigation

About the role

Old Mutual is seeking dedicated investigators to support its claims department in Johannesburg. The role focuses on validating insurance claims, preventing fraudulent payouts, and ensuring a high standard of service for policyholders.

Key responsibilities

• Perform primary validation of claims, including insurance history checks and interviews with claimants, witnesses, and police (SAPS).
• Review and transcribe claim‑related conversations, retrieve accident reports, settlement letters and registration documents.
• Visit incident scenes, assess factual information, and compile detailed investigation reports.
• Coordinate with solicitors, negotiate settlements, and arrange necessary services such as repairs or vehicle assessments.
• Maintain accurate claim records in SOP or Iwyze systems and ensure proper documentation of prejudice requests.
• Update policy information and oversee vehicle hand‑over to approved panel beaters or auction houses.

Required profile

• Matric certificate with a relevant qualification in Insurance, Investigation or a comparable NQF Level 5 occupational certificate.
• Experience in claims management, insurance investigations or related fields.
• Strong analytical ability to assess factual data and identify inconsistencies.
• Excellent written communication for report preparation and evidence presentation.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate with internal teams and external partners.
